Meet the Professional

For over 35 years, Mr. Carruthers has been providing both financial and intellectual capital resources to enterprises ranging in development from early stage to middle market. His investment banking and financial advisory engagements involved a broad array of both strategic and capital market transactions, as well as numerous other financial, economic, management and regulatory advisory projects. More specifically, Mr. Carruthers has represented clientele in mergers, acquisitions and divestures, in both a buy-side and sell-side capacity in every stage of the process from corporate assessments to providing fairness opinions.  His corporate finance background includes sourcing capital for numerous singular transactions, as well as for investment entities, including both traditional and alternative asset management platforms. 

 

During the mid-1990s, Mr. Carruthers developed the Strategic Alternative Financial Evaluation (“SAFE”) Program to assist enterprises in the assessment of various strategic options and staging such companies for successful transformations and transactions.  The SAFE Program is focused on achieving realistic and achievable long-term goals that result in the maximization and optimization of enterprise value for corporate ownership.        

 

Mr. Carruthers has worked in senior positions with several boutique financial advisory, investment banking and money management firms (mutual fund and private equity). Most recently, he served as Chief Operating Officer of EBB Group and his prior position was as Managing Director of investment banking and corporate finance for Merion Capital Group.  He was previously a Managing Director with Commerce Street Capital.  Prior to Commerce Street, he directed Cohen and Company’s investment banking practice.  His prior positions and affiliations include: Managing Principal, McAllen Capital Partners; Senior Vice President, Emerald Asset Management; Senior Vice President, The Secura Group; and, Senior Equity Analyst, Salomon Brothers.

 

Mr. Carruthers is a native of Washington, D.C. and is a graduate of the University of Maryland.  He holds an M.B.A. from The George Washington University's Graduate School of Business and Government.  He is licensed with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (“FINRA”) as an Investment Banking Registered Representative (Series 79), a Uniform Securities Agent (Series 63), and been granted the Securities Industry Essentials Examination. 

 

Mr. Carruthers lives in Dallas, Texas with his wife (Merrilee); they share four daughters who live throughout the country.  As a result, he will be working until he is 84 years old.
